Sustainability at Caspari –
Responsibility in the raw material cycle
At Caspari, sustainability is not a trend, but part of our corporate philosophy.
As a manufacturer of pallets and wooden packaging, we act responsibly when handling natural resources. Our strategy is based on four pillars: certified wood, energy from biomass, photovoltaics, and a consistent take-back and recycling program.
Our 4 Pillars of Sustainability
Wood as a renewable raw material – PEFC-certified
- Controlled origin (PEFC)
- Recyclable & CO₂-binding
- Resource-efficient

Wood is a renewable raw material and plays a central role in climate protection: it binds CO₂, is recyclable, and versatile. At Caspari, we exclusively process PEFC-certified wood from sustainable forestry. This ensures that every log comes from controlled sources – for the responsible use of resources and the protection of forests.
Take-back & Recycling Program –
Circular economy instead of consumption
- Reuse
- Customer take-back
- Recovery of non-usable pallets
learn more
At Caspari, sustainability does not end with delivery. With our take-back and recycling program, we consistently close the material cycle: we take back used, damaged, or discarded pallets, sort them, and return reusable ones to circulation. Reconditionable pallets are refurbished – and pallets that are no longer usable are utilized for energy, providing heat for drying new pallets.

Energy generation through biomass
- Less fossil energy
- Meaningful recovery of waste materials
- Heat for halls & processes
learn more
At our plants in Waldbröl and Herne, we operate biomass systems fueled by waste wood and production residues. This allows us to make meaningful use of sawdust, milling and cutting scraps, as well as pallets that can no longer be repaired. The resulting heat supplies halls, warehouses, and offices – and supports technical drying as well as IPPC treatment.
Energy generation through photovoltaics
- Planning security
- Electricity directly on-site
- Feed-in of surplus energy
learn more
In addition to biomass, we use solar energy directly on our factory roofs. Our photovoltaic systems generate a significant portion of the electricity required on-site. We feed surpluses into the grid – thereby increasing independence from fossil fuels as well as the long-term stability of our energy costs.
